Colorful Kicks: Huichol-Inspired Shoes by Mexican Designer Ricardo Seco

In Architecture & Design by Suzanne Koch

If you happened to catch a glimpse of any of Ricardo Seco’s shows in the past few years, you’ve probably spotted quite a few New Balance kicks heading down the runway. The Mexican fashion designer has frequently used the Boston-based brand’s footwear to complement his sporty, urban designs.

Now, the designer and footwear brand are teaming up to create a colorful line of footwear that highlights the Huichol culture of Mexico. Dubbed The New Balance 574 by Ricardo Seco, the collection features molded beading in four different color combos. Along with featuring common patterns frequently seen throughout Huichol-inspired designs, the shoes will also be sold in graphic boxes inspired by the beading patterns as well.

The sneakers retail for $180 a pair and are available online and in retailers globally.
