The Luxury Collection and Mercedes Salazar Launches Limited-Edition Collection of Mexico-Inspired Jewelry

In Architecture & Design by Suzanne Koch

Available starting this month, The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts has teamed up with celebrity jewelry designer and the brand’s newest Global Explorer Mercedes Salazar for a capsule collection of jewelry and accessories. The new collection is inspired by Salazar’s journey through three of Mexico’s vibrant destinations through the lens of The Luxury Collection’s unique hotels: Solaz Resort in Los Cabos, Las Alcobas in Mexico City and Hacienda Temozon and Hacienda Santa Rosa in the Yucatan. The collection is being designed exclusively for The Luxury Collection.

Mercedes Salazar x The Luxury Collection will feature unique pieces that showcase the adventures and experiences of Salazar during her journey. Things like Dia de los Muertos, indigenous rock paintings of the Pericues in Cabo, the vibrant markets and architecture of Mexico City and more, all served as inspiration.

Hacienda Temozon

“I fell in love with the spirit of Mexico when I left Colombia to study jewelry in Mexico City fifteen years ago. I learned the art of craftsmanship and was so moved by the culture that when I finished my studies, I started my jewelry company that still embodies the ethos of the destination today. When The Luxury Collection invited me to rediscover Mexico through the lens of their stunning properties, I was thrilled to revisit my roots and design an exotic, culturally authentic accessories line inspired by the indigenous experiences I had throughout my journey. From working with native artisans and learning their time-honored techniques, to participating in local events and experiencing The Luxury Collection’s cherished properties, I was able to re-ignite my connection with Mexico and create my first-ever line inspired by the place that is so dear to my heart.”

While Salazar is known for her statement earrings (there will be plenty of those!), the collection will also include colorful crossbody bags and hats. Shoppers can look forward to playful earrings reflecting the Cardón cacti of Los Cabos topped with shimmering green crystals and lavender floral accents. The bustling markets of Mexico City can be seen in a straw cross-body bag intricately woven with brightly-hued threads and strung with pink tassels and adorned with a gold-plated brass flower. Even the exquisite needlework of the Mayan women in the Yucatan is celebrated in the designs of woven straw hats accented with hand-embroidered exotic birds.

The collection is exclusively available for purchase at and Prices range from $150 to $260.
