Xinú: Luxury Aromas

In Architecture & Design by Ali Madrazo

We commonly associate the word ¨luxury¨ with products or spaces, but I personally consider that one of the most exquisite sensations that we can experience is while perceiving a delicious aroma, which makes you remember moments or emotions, that transports you and makes you vibrate. Xinú means ¨nose¨ in Otomí, an indigenous language still used in some regions of Mexico. The perfumery brand created by Verónica Peña is inspired by the aromatic botany of the American Continent; it has abstracted the most special and fascinating essences to create perfumes that exalt the visual and olfactory richness of America. Together with the Master Perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux and designers Ignacio Cadena and Hector Esrawe, Veronica conceived an unusual perfume, whose fragrances permeate people’s skin to potentiate their own scents with lovely notes; opal, vanilla, cedar, agave and green lemon are some of the ingredients used in these fantastic mixtures. The bottle is one more of the precious details of this product since the combination of wood and glass is simple but perfectly integrates with the concept, turning Xinú into a piece that everyone wants to have. The experience of owning a perfume of this type begins from the moment you visit any of its boutiques, converted into a showroom that transmits the love for botany and Mexico´s origins through a central table that evokes the desk of a Naturalist that observes, gathers and collects the olfactory and visual inspirations of the brand. Aguamadera, Copala, Monstera and OroNardo are the four fragrances that you can find in any of its boutiques located in Mérida, San Miguel de Allende and Mexico City. Once you have used all of the perfume do not forget that the bottle can become a vase or a beautiful decorative object that will remind you of the moments you smelled Xinú.
