SHA Wellness Clinic to Expand With First International Outpost in Mexico This Year

In Cancún, Live by Christina Silvestri

Since it first opened its doors in 2008, near the bay of Altea in Spain, SHA Wellness Clinic has been redefining the landscape of health and wellness. Offering a unique blend of Western medicine, organic eating, natural therapies and an overall focus on holistic well-being, SHA has become a household name for those seeking rejuvenation and vitality. Over the past 13 years, more than 60,000 guests—including celebrities, royal families and global leaders—have trusted SHA for transformative wellness experiences.

Now, SHA is expanding its global footprint with its first international expansion to Mexico. Slated to open in December 2023, the company is all set to open SHA Mexico, a luxurious retreat situated in Costa Mujeres, Quintana Roo. Located just 30 minutes from Cancun airport and nestled against the backdrop of Isla Mujeres, the new facility promises to be an oasis for holistic wellness.

Environmental Integration

Perched on 7 hectares of untouched land, the center will sport half a kilometer of pristine white sand beach, a natural cenote and will be proximate to the largest coral reef in the northern hemisphere. In a conscientious move towards sustainability, SHA Mexico aims to integrate and blend in with the abundant native flora and fauna.

Design & Aesthetics

The design aesthetics of the wellness center will remain loyal to the overarching vision of SHA—organic and contemporary. Designed by renowned Mexican architectural firm Sordo Madaleno and interior architect Alejandro Escudero, the SHA Mexico aims to integrate seamlessly into the environment. Natural materials like marble, Mexican ceramics, wicker, and native fabrics will be predominant, following the path of sustainable luxury.

The landscaping has been orchestrated by Maat Handasa, ensuring that the local species maintain their protagonism in the overall project design. From the building’s heights to its gardens, every design element aims to bring guests closer to nature.

Connectivity

One of the most enticing aspects of SHA Mexico is its connectivity. Being just 30 kilometers (~18.5 miles) away from Cancun International Airport—one of the most well-connected airports in the U.S., Canada and Latin America—ensures that the center is accessible for international wellness seekers, especially those with direct connections from such major cities as Los Angeles, Madrid, Miami, New York, Panama and Toronto.
