Aman’s First Mexico Property, Amanvari to Open in Costa Palmas

In Live, Los Cabos, Stay by Suzanne Koch

Aman is making its debut in Mexico with Amanvari, the second resort in the 1,000-acre beachfront community of Costa Palmas on the East Cape of the Baja. Scheduled to open in 2020, the hotel and residences will feature an eye-catching design that blends in with the surrounding landscape, keeping in line with Aman’s unique design style.

Chairman and CEO of Aman, Vladislav Doronin says “As we continue to evolve Aman, staying true to our ethos, brand and the lifestyle it offers, is our guiding force. Our number one priority is embracing our pathfinder spirit, and with it, introducing our guests to new destinations and experiences. In the context of Amanvari, the raw landscape on the East Cape of the Baja Peninsula, is a fitting location for our first destination in Mexico and illustrates our continued commitment to curating resorts of architectural distinction. We look forward to delivering an adventure that is a cultural and spiritual odyssey, as well as a discovery and celebration of its terroir.”

Taking its name from the Sanskrit-derived words for “peace” and “water,” Amanvari will rest on slender, stilted structures and will have a main pavilion with an open-air atrium that will serve as the center of the resort. Amenities will include three restaurants, a library and lounge and a 323-foot infinity-edge pool with four hot tubs. The Aman Spa pavilion will be located just off the main pavilion, down a tree-covered pathway.

For accommodations the resort has plans for 20 bi-level hotel pavilions spread across the landscape, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto an outdoor terrace and wraparound sundeck, with some including a cantilevered pool. There will also be an initial release of 24 whole-ownership Aman Residences for sale. Residences will include four- to seven-bedroom floor plans ranging in size from 12,992 to 20,000 square feet of covered indoor-outdoor living. Locations for the residences include at the edge of the dunes with views of the sea, facing the adjacent golf course or within the organic farms. Buyers will also have the chance to customize their home with any combo of pavilions for bedrooms, theatre, fitness, yoga or a casual family room.

Both the hotel and residences will be designed by architects Heah & Co. and developed by Los Angeles-based real estate firm Irongate.

Amanvari will be a part of Costa Palmas, the master-planned private beachfront resort community, located 45 minutes from the Los Cabos airport and home to Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas, a Robert Trent Jones II 18-hole golf course, 18 acres of orchards and farms and its own beach club and yacht club. While Amanvari will be Aman’s first location in Mexico, the brand already boasts a wide collection of 31 intimate retreats in exotic locations across the world including Morocco, India, Greece and more.
