Cabo Surf Hotel: A Surfer’s Paradise

In Los Cabos, Play, Stay by Suzanne Koch

Grab your board and head to Cabo Surf Hotel, whose prime location is also one of the best surfing spots in the area. Located on Acapulquito Beach, this laid back California-style boutique resort not only offers riders great waves to cruise but also features the Mike Doyle Surf School, founded by the surfing legend himself who was voted “Best Surfer” by Surfer Magazine in 1965 and 1966. Now, the world surfing champion is a resident of both beautiful Cabo San Lucas and San Diego where he still spends much of his time surfing.

For avid-surfers or those who aspire to be, this on-site surf school is great for both inexperienced and veteran riders alike. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (7 p.m. during summer), the school offers group lessons, semi-private lessons and individual lessons. Every lesson includes a board rental, rash guard and instruction on the beach and in the water. For the truly dedicated, the school also offers three-day surf clinics in group settings, semi-private or individual.

All instructors of the school are certified by NSSIA (National Surf Schools and Instructors Association), a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering surf etiquette, water safety and quality instructor programs for surfers through professional instructor development, education, accreditation and research.

The The Cabo Surf Shop provides a variety of boards from softboards, SurfTech boards to boogie boards and more. Visitors will also find other beach essentials like beach umbrellas and an exclusive clothing line.

In addition to the on-site surf school, the boutique hotel’s signature restaurant 7 Seas Seafood Grille serves up fresh catches daily and Sea Spa Cabo offers a variety of therapies and treatments. Guests of Cabo Surf Hotel receive a discount at Mike Doyle Surf School.
