How to Experience a Camel Safari in Cabo

In Los Cabos, Play by Suzanne Koch

Camels outfitted in colorful and vibrant pom poms and saddles trekking through golden sand in a single-file line sounds like something out of a Morrocan dream, but this exotic safari is nowhere near Morocco. In fact, the desert adventure is located in the heart of the Baja outback and offered through Cabo Adventures, Los Cabos’ top tour and activity operator.

The unique activity takes guests to the Cabo Adventures ranch where guides will introduce them to the desert landscape with a calm nature walk. Afterwards, off-road Mercedes-Benz Unimog trucks will whisk riders off through cacti-lined paths to Rancho San Cristobal for a 20-minute camel ride along the sandy beaches of the Pacific Ocean. The camels will provide riders with unparalleled views of the expansive ocean and beach, and the lack of people around make for a truly unique experience.

Afterwards, guests will get to fuel up on authentic Mexican food at the local ranch. Enjoy handmade tortillas, fresh salsas and much more. Not to mention, the flowing mezcal and tequila will surely top off the day.

And to make the day even more convenient, Cabo Adventures offers free transportation from most hotels to their two locations in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, where many of their excursions and adventures meet and depart from.

Kids: $79

In addition to the camel safari, Cabo Adventures offers a variety of other excursions like beach bikes, zip lining, swimming with dolphins, snorkeling, scuba diving and more.
