May at Flora Farms

In Dine, Los Cabos, Play by Suzanne Koch

Grab your last few doughnuts, fill up on eggplant and celebrate mom—all during May at Flora Farms.

Mother’s Day: Celebrate Mother’s Day both the Mexican and American way with two events at Flora’s Field Kitchen. Wednesday, May 10, mothers will receive complimentary wine and dessert and on Sunday, May 14, the kitchen will be treating moms to mimosas for brunch. Reservations: reservations@flora-farms.com

Solanaceae Season: Eggplant, cucumber, tomatoes, chiles, peppers and squash are all in peak season so head to the grocery to grab your bag or enjoy the chef’s creations on the new spring menu.

Doughnut Bar: Treat yourself one last time as May is the last month of the Sunday doughnut bar. Enjoy flavors like carrot cake, chocolate, mango, plain with homemade lavender sprinkles and more.

Cooking Classes: Head to the potting shed for roasted vegetable taco class on Tuesdays. Learn to make tortillas the old fashioned way (nixtamal) and practice using herb sauces fresh from the field. On Fridays, experiment with various regional salsas and handmade nixtamal tortillas. All cooking classes include a farm tour, crafted cocktail and lunch. $75 per person. Reservations: sonja@flora-farms.com

Songwriters Session No. 2: On Wednesday, May 31 from 7 to 10 p.m., the mango grove will host original music from local talent including The Shamans, Nick-I of Common Sense Band, Monique, Edsel and more. Includes a drink. $25. No host bar and a light supper will be available for purchase at 6:30 p.m. Reservations and more info: nick@flora-farms.com
