City you live in: Cabo San Lucas

A typical day in my life includes… Morning bike ride, preparing my day with coffee before anyone arrives to the office.

I was born… in Mexico City, and left the city when I was 21, that’s where my adventure in the tourism industry started.

My favorite thing about Los Cabos is… Nature, the contrast of the semi-arid tropical landscape, and the deep blue color of the Sea of Cortes. Lots of different activities, land or sea.

I’m listening to… Eumir Deodato, he was advanced in his time. I also enjoy Phill Collins, Seal, Mana, Alejandro Fernandez, classic music, all depends on the mood

My family… has been very supportive at all times, and I feel very proud of my two successful daughters, they have made their way up, they are one of a kind.

I take my coffee… early in the morning preparing my day at work, or after a good bike ride.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be… my wife, we both enjoy good food and wine, and of course a great conversation.

One thing I cannot live without… my dogs and my bikes.

When I was younger, I wanted to be… hotelier, since I was 12 or so.

I’m inspired by… Jean Berthelot, great hotelier.

The one person who motivates me is… I have learned to be self-motivated, I am responsible of my mood, and I am the only one that can create great moments and enjoy life, taking the best of each moment.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be… education. Education builds a better understanding of our problems and provides alternatives to improve our status quo.

The perfect day would be… Today.

I unwind from a long day by… a glass of good wine.

My first job was… in a butcher store when I was 7.

My favorite escape… Riding my bike.

My life… has been filled with lots of blessings, I am very fortunate and I thank God for his kindness.

I’m currently working on… what could be the crown of my professional career, participating in the opening of the first Thompson Hotel in Mexico. Working for Commune Hotels is the reward of all the effort invested during my path in the hotel industry.

Always… try to be a better person, you never stop learning from others. Be humble

Never… say never.

Favorite Quote… If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to a person or an object – Albert Einstein

Biggest Dream… be present in a Tour de France and ride some of the routes pros ride.

My Pet Peeve(s)… lack of respect to humans, nature and animals.

Some questions specific to The Cape:

How long have you been in the hospitality industry?

All my life, I’ve loved it without realizing it since I was a kid.

What made you choose The Cape to call your new home?

Philosophy that suits my personal way of living and thinking.

What do you want The Cape to be known for?

The best ambiance in the luxury segment, with the personal touch of a great team in Los Cabos

What is the ideal Cape resort customer?

Everyone that is willing to enjoy the best service in a casual and relaxed ambiance.

What is your favorite thing on the menu at The Cape, and which restaurant can it be found in?

I love ceviche and the variety of seafood found in Los Cabos that provides the best raw material to make the best ceviches. With the Asian touch that Enrique Olvera adds to them, the ceviche dishes at Manta are my favorite.
