Cirque du Soleil Joyà Celebrates 5th Anniversary With New Culinary Experience

In Dine, Play, Playa del Carmen & Tulum by Suzanne Koch

Mexico’s iconic dinner-and-a-show is celebrating its 5th anniversary this year with new culinary experiences. As the first resident show of Cirque du Soleil outside the United States and the only one in the world which includes a culinary experience, Joyà is a must for those visiting the Riviera Maya.

Located at Vidanta Riviera Maya, Joyà’s Executive Chef Alexis Bostelmann has worked with his team of 70 for more than six months to create the new experience. They’ve incorporated the largest amount of local products possible to better highlight the origin of the 140-minute show.

Show guests can expect things like an edible flower salad, a glass chest with jewels and a mini skewer of shrimp inside, beef inside a rock simulating a meteor, and an upgraded dessert book full of new elements and tastes. There’s even a new option for vegetarians and fun picks for younger guests.

“All the elements that make up this magnificent show were my inspiration to present a menu with great meaning and history, so that once the show begins , visitors will connect all the details, finding a much more theatrical experience, more thematic and also much more spectacular.”

In addition to the new tastes offered, the show itself will present new exciting acts like the Aerial Duo Rings and more.
