ASHO: Creating Experiences Through Spaces

In Architecture & Design by Ali Madrazo

Design goes far beyond the visual, it is something that is felt, lived and also communicated. We recently got to know the work of ASHO, an architecture and design studio which has completed projects that really speak to us about this way of transmitting through creativity. It was established in 2015 by architect Anette Askenazi Shor, which leads under an approach based on the idea that architecture and design represent a means to give value to people’s lifestyle; under this philosophy, design serves as a tool for creating functional, aesthetic and comfortable spaces. The services that ASHO offers include architectural and interior design, furniture and accessories selection, as well as project execution and supervision.

Each of their projects are unique and totally personalized, although you can clearly see in all of them an essence that characterizes their work. One of our favorite projects in their portfolio is T.1204, an apartment located in a luxury residential complex in Huixquilican, Estado de Mexico. The objective was clear from the beginning: to create tailored made spaces for a young couple with very specific tastes. During the creative process classic elements and contemporary details were integrated, achieving a warm, serene and dynamic atmosphere. ASHO was inspired by a mix of mid-century classic style with contemporary materials to achieve a balanced and complete space. The chosen materials were natural stones as well as woods and metals, which were integrated with colors and textures that allow a perfect balance between them. The color palette used has a range of blues, yellows and grays to give the space more dynamism, and the decorative elements and furniture were carefully selected to express the owners’ personality. Original design icons such as the Florence armchair by Knoll, the Van Beuren chairs and the classic Jens Bench were chosen.

These are definitely spaces that could clearly be on the cover of the best design magazine, but at the same time they are so cozy and we love the fact that they certainly give a “home” feeling; for some reason it is easy for us to imagine it full of guests, in an elegant dinner or fun meeting, and perhaps that is the main objective of ASHO, to ensure that the spaces are translated into scenarios to generate unique and unforgettable experiences.
