Carolina K: From Argentina to México

In Architecture & Design by Isabella Moreno

Carolina K is a brand from Argentina that was found in 2004 by Carolina Kleinman. After visiting different parts of Latin America, India and other destinations, Carolina began to work with the great inspiration she found in these different places and the indigenous groups, at the markets, inside books and through the taste of ancient cultures. All collections are inspired by the richness of textiles; this is the spirit of the brand.

The prints and the hand-embroidered details made by artisans from Mexico, Peru and India using ancestral techniques are the center of all creation. The main interest of the brand is to keep the old textile manufacturing traditions alive, and to display fashion in a sustainable way.

Carolina lives in the beautiful town of Tepoztlan, Mexico for the last ten years with her husband, the photographer Iván Belausstegui and their children. Carolina now divides her time between her studio in Miami and this town in Mexico. She has developed a spectacular job of creating uniforms for the Faena Hotel in Miami Beach. Through each piece she creates reflections of the luxury, culture and history of gypsy spirits mixed with high fashion details. Her creations can be found in different stores in Mexico and in the well-known design spaces in Mexico City, La Lonja.
