Mexico City presents Material Art Fair

In Architecture & Design by Isabella Moreno

The highly anticipated art fair dates arrive to Mexico City, and welcome back the time to study and discover the newest art proposals at the fairs, galleries and museums of  Mexico City. We have already presented a little bit of the known  MACO Fair and today we are going to talk about Material Art Fair. This fair is the only exhibition of art in Mexico dedicated exclusively to the production and emerging practice.

This year’s third edition in Mexico City, will take place February 4-7 at the Expo Reforma, an exhibition center located in the Colonia Juarez. Located closer to the coolest districts Roma-Condesa, San Rafael and Downtown, the exhibition space has a parking lot to prevent problems with the chaotic traffic of the city and it also offers a very good variety of spaces to spend the night if coming from another city. Also within this area of the city you can walk to the best museums and cultural attractions.

After the huge success of Material Art Fair, this edition will grow to submit 60 galleries, projects led by artists and spaces for non-profit purposes, each chosen by the selection committee. The fair is a design of the architectural study of Mexico City APRDELESP in collaboration with the designer Carla Valdivia responsible for the new graphic identity of Material Art Fair. The organizers of the fair are an initiative of Daniela Elbahara and Brett W. Schultz, co-directors of the gallery Yautepec of Mexico City, in conjunction with Isa Natalia Castilla, founder of INTERCONTEMPORARY.

The fairs and cultural activity of Mexico City during these dates are a necessary agenda for all art lovers. There are proposals to meet, inspire and terrorize all kinds of public. The main aim is always to unify cultures in different spaces, express the dialog freely and enjoy a great weekend in one of the best cities of the world!
