The Associate of Tennis Professionals (ATP) announced on Wednesday, November 18 that Bogota’s ATP World Tour 250 would now take place in Los Cabos, Mexico come 2016. This comes as the result of Grupo Pegaso acquiring the event and will be a part of North America’s Summer Tour. The tournament will have the highest financial commitment of its category in the Americas of $800,000. Bogota’s former tournament director, Manuel Mate, stated “It comes with mixed feelings to transfer our event to Los Cabos where we believe it will grow to be a great event representing Mexico internationally.”

Patricio Burillo, Chairman of the Board of Grupo Pegaso, also shared his belief for the growth Los Cabos will experience from the event, “Bringing the tournament to Los Cabos will reinforce Los Cabos’ reputation as a world-class venue for professional sporting events, as well as an extraordinary destination for luxurious leisure pursuits, for which we are already renowned.”

The event is set to be held at Solaz Los Cabos, the gorgeous beachside resort, from August 8 to August 14. “We’re delighted to welcome Los Cabos to the ATP World Tour. We look forward to the inaugural tournament in 2016, and many successful years ahead,” says Chris Kermode, ATP Executive Chairman & President.
