Recipe: Damiana Margarita

In Dine, Los Cabos by Suzanne Koch

Cheers to Cinco de Mayo with the Damiana Margarita, an herbal margarita from CostaBaja Resort & Spa in La Paz, home to one of the largest tequila collections in Mexico. Damiana, a native flower of the Baja, was originally used by indigenous cultures of Mexico to improve the body’s functionality and relieve symptoms like anxiety, stress and fatigue. Today, it’s used in skin products and spa treatments along with being used as the base for the popular liqueur that’s been hailed as an aphrodisiac. In fact, Mexican folklore says the very first margarita was made with Damiana Liqueur. Give the popular light, herbal-based liqueur a try with CostaBaja’s signature margarita recipe below.
