A Weekend at San Lucas Vineyard

In Magical Towns, Play, San Miguel de Allende, Stay by Ali Madrazo

If you like wine, nature and unique travel experiences this place is definitely for you. Located just a few minutes from the city of San Miguel de Allende, San Lucas is part of a set of residential and agricultural developments which have vineyards, olives and lavender fields. In addition to the super cozy boutique hotel, you can also find a polo field, restaurants, workshops and winery. The experience is totally relaxing but you can also try several activities that take you out of the routine that we are used to in our busy rhythms of life. Here is a review of the best of this Tuscan style paradise which has turned to be one of our favorites in Mexico.

The Place

San Lucas has fourteen comfortable rooms divided into four buildings that have the central lake in common. The Provencal architectural style reminds us of countries like Italy or France, where the true pleasure is found in enjoying the moment and the company. Some of the rooms have a balcony with a spectacular view, while others have a terrace, ideal for lying down to read a good book or simply contemplate the landscape. The predominant sound is silence and the feeling of peace is undeniable; without a doubt the perfect escape for both couples and families looking for an out of town experience.

The Food

Nothing better to pair the inhouse produced wines from San Lucas than dishes prepared with local ingredients, of which many of them are grown on their own orchard. Both restaurants offer options for all tastes; from fresh bakery to healthy salads, delicious cheese plates, fish, steaks, pastas, and of course, wood fired pizza.

The Activities

Great plans for everyone! For those who enjoy wine, San Lucas has personalized tastings in its cellars or paired dinners for the most exquisite; it also has workshops to create products with the olives and lavender that are produced in there. For those who are interested in the equestrian world, the polo field is open so that you can learn this magnificent sport or just go horseback riding through the facilities; biking, yoga classes with a fantastic view and taking a relaxing massage at the serene spa are other of the most popular activities in San Lucas. Enjoy!
