Hotel Matilda Named Mexico’s Best City Hotel

In Magical Towns by Suzanne Koch

Hotel Matilda in San Miguel de Allende has been named Mexico’s Best City Hotel in Travel + Leisure‘s World’s Best Awards. The contemporary hotel previously was awarded the top spot in 2017.

“With Hotel Matilda, we broke new ground in Colonial Mexico, opening the first contemporary, design-and-cuisine-centric hotel that showcased an ongoing array of provocative artists and culinary masters and was a catalyst for San Miguel’s tourism boom. This second top award from Travel + Leisure not only is an endorsement of the Matilda lifestyle embodying the ambience, attitude and amenities savvy travelers expect today, but also recognizes that we have developed – and consistently maintained – the highest hospitality standards in the country.”

Bruce James, Director of Hotel Matilda.

The lifestyle-focused hotel opened in 2010 boasting one-of-a-kind art and culinary experiences. An award-winning holistic spa, art gallery-like interior, creative Bar Müi and world-class dining at Moxi, round out the irresistible guest amenities.

The World’s Best Awards are a result of an extensive reader survey conducted by Travel + Leisure each year and are among the most respected reader polls in the travel industry. The awards are available to view online by clicking here and will also be published in Travel + Leisure’s August 2019 issue.
