I’m currently listening to… Vive Solita – Natalia Lafourcade

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be… Noam Chomsky

One thing I cannot travel without… my yoga mat

I’m inspired by… Community: it is amazing what can be achieved when souls come together with an ultimate end. I’ve always thought that people have it in their hearts to help others, to do good in the world, to support those in need. If we let ourselves hope and dream, as a community, we can achieve amazing positive change in the world. No one does anything on their own. We all need each other and there’s an amazing beauty in that.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be… social inequality. The fact that resources are distributed so unevenly.

The perfect day would be… somewhere in the mountains, at a small bed and breakfast, my yoga mat, a good book, my daughter and my husband.

My favorite place I’ve visited… India

My top 3 bucket list destinations: Vietnam, French Polynesia, Cambodia

How did Dharana Movement start?

I’ve always known I wanted to make a positive change in the world, especially regarding women’s rights. I didn’t know exactly when or how, but my path started revealing itself. When I studied how complicated the situation was for incarcerated women, especially during the pandemic, I knew I had to do something. I decided to put together my 3 great passions: yoga, women’s rights and design, and that is how we started producing our yoga and meditation products. Everything handcrafted by women who were previously incarcerated and are now walking towards their social reintegration.

What is the social commitment of Dharana?

We give second opportunities to women who were previously incarcerated. Our methodology includes psychological help, a support group system, financial and legal  assistance and the development of technical skills. In Dharana Movement we believe everyone deserves a second opportunity.

What has been the most rewarding experience of creating Dharana?

To see how women that have been part of our methodology change their lives. They develop self love and self security and allow themselves to live and dream again. We give them back their power and sense of belonging.
