Casa Malca: The Trendiest Hotel in Tulum

In Playa del Carmen & Tulum, Stay by Regina García

Casa Malca is the fusion between the astonishing Caribbean Sea, luxurious accommodations and amazing art pieces and decoration.

The resort opened its doors six years ago with only eight rooms, its growth has been amazing since now they can accommodate guests in 72 rooms. The hotel was purchased by Lio Malca, an art dealer from NYC, no wonder how the inspiring decoration and work of art can be found in every space of Casa Malca. The architecture and contemporary art merges with the 590 feet of beach and 192,750 of jungle, creating a completely different option to stay and enjoy Tulum. All the pieces of art were chosen by Lio, which gives Casa Malca a unique deco style.

Casa Malca has five different options for eating, the first one is Philosophy a modern cuisine restaurant that uses local, fresh and organic ingredients. Philosophy has one of the most privileged views since you can appreciate the turquoise sea.

Ambrosia has a Asian menu, conceived by Chef Jonathan Carbajal. All the construction of the restaurant was made with recycled wood and all the work of art is by the famous pop art creator Keith Haring.

The Beach Club, as the name says it was created for the guests that want to stay all day at the beach. A perfect combination of grill and sea food as well as a cocktail and wine menu, creates the perfect atmosphere for a day under the sun.

A spot for grabbing freshly baked bread or a quick breakfast it The Pastry and Bakery, which offers many options for desserts and sweets.

Finally the Main House Bar, a juice and cocktail bar great for a snack or a refreshing beverage during the day. The impressive wallpaper and ceiling is from none other than Keith Haring, one of Lio’s favorite contemporary artists.

Great news are coming for Casa Malca, since they announced the upcoming opening of their own spa called Calma Spa. Calma sounds as promising as any other spa in a luxury resort since it will feature a fitness room, hydrotherapy facilities with an aromatherapy steam room, sauna, and hydro-massage pool. The treatments will be inspired by mayan traditions as well as the latest on skincare technology, combining the best of Casa Malca’s origins Mexican and American culture.
