Mauricio Rivera Kirschner: From Architecture to Wedding Planning

In Bridal by Belen Molina

Mauricio Rivera Kirschner’s professional career took an unexpected turn when he agreed to help one of his close friends organize her wedding. Little did he know that what started out as a fun “favor” for a friend would soon become his passion. Today, Mauricio is one of Mexico’s most sought-after wedding planners. His innate talent and unique artistic approach have earned him the reputation of a visionary trendsetter in the luxury wedding industry.

Mauricio Rivera Kirschner studied Architecture and Design at the Western Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESO) in Guadalajara, Mexico and took a variety of Art and Design courses in London, Shanghai, and New York City. Mauricio founded his own architecture and design company, MRK, in 2007. Today, MRK encompasses four different areas: architecture, interior design, full-service wedding planning, and furniture design – allowing MRK’s talented team of architects and designers to deliver the most magical and sophisticated design proposals available in the luxury wedding industry. Mauricio is not your typical wedding planner; not only does he oversee every little aspect of your big day, but he approaches every wedding as he would a design or a construction project: as a work of art. “Our goal is to intertwine the perfect mood, scenery, inspiration, environment, space and design with our client’s demands,” says Mauricio. Luxury destination weddings are one of the biggest trends in today’s wedding industry. With some of the most beautiful and exotic destinations located south of the border, it’s no surprise that Mauricio and his team have planned exuberant weddings in Los Cabos, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Punta Mita, San Miguel de Allende, and Oaxaca, to name a few.

Ensuring the highest level of quality is one of Mauricio’s greatest priorities and a key to his success. For this reason, MRK has cultivated a network of exclusive vendors based in his hometown of Guadalajara, whom he engages for all of his events, both across Mexico and abroad. Whether he is meeting with clients at his Guadalajara or Mexico City offices, coordinating the logistics of somebody’s big day, meeting with vendors, scouting for new and exotic locations across the country, or collaborating with well-known designers, sculptors, and photographers, dreaming big and delivering experiences that exceed every expectation is how Mauricio approaches his art.
