New Mexican Inspired Pre-Wedding Activities at Casa Velas

In Bridal by Belen Molina

The luxurious, all-inclusive adults-only Casa Velas in Puerto Vallarta is now offering exclusive pre-wedding group activities that your friends and family can enjoy before the big day. Start the celebration a little bit early and bring your guests together through Mexican-inspired arts, crafts, and culinary activities.

Private Baking Class with World-Renowned Pastry Chef

In this interactive cooking class, your guests will learn how to make traditional Mexican wedding cakes and cookies, known as biscochitos. Flavored with Mexican cinnamon and anise, the dough is then rolled and cut into stars and crescent moons. Guests can decorate them with hearts, the bride and grooms’ initials, or any other wedding theme they can think of!

Create a Traditional Wedding Lasso for the Couple

During this activity, the bride, her bridesmaids, and the mother of the bride and groom will have rope and other accoutrements that match the wedding décor to make their own wedding lasso for the ceremony. The lasso, which is usually a string of flowers and rosary beads, is placed around the shoulders of the couple after they have exchanged their vows, symbolizing everlasting love and unity.

Private Class with Native Huichols

The Huichols have long been imbued with the tradition of yarn work and beading, and their bright, vibrant patterns stem from their use of turquoise, coral, bone, jade, and seeds in their artwork. At Casa Velas, wedding guests can partake in private classes with the native Huichols, where they will learn how to make traditional beaded bracelets to keep as a personal memento of the wedding.

Give your guests a taste of authentic cultural flavor at your CasaVelas wedding!
