Opening in late 2016 is Grand Velas Los Cabos, a $150 million beachfront property and the fifth Velas resort. In addition to welcoming guests to a new place to stay, the resort will also welcome guests into its new spa, a stunning dual-level, 35,000-square-foot haven with 16 treatment rooms—some with direct ocean views—and the latest technology and wellness products. With features like a guided water journey, kid’s and teen’s treatments, bridal suite, salon and barber shop, the spa will be a highlight of the new resort.
Along with luxury treatments to help unwind, the spa is rolling out a new Spa Atelier that will keep guests engaged through educational workshops that will complement different spa treatments. A wide variety of informative courses from skincare and nutrition to aromatherapy and water and tea rituals will be offered. The workshops will be custom-made and tailored to aid a variety of ailments and needs. Inspired by local Mexican culture, they will be based upon the principles of ancient Ayurvedic medicine and will last between 50 and 80 minutes. While some workshops will be complimentary, others will be available at an extra cost.
Below are the new Spa Atelier workshops that guests can look forward to participating in:
The Tea Party: Incorporating tisanas (herbal tea infusions) and whole leaf teas, guests will learn how combinations of tea and natural ingredients can be beneficial for the body. Tea leaves, herbs, spices and fruit can have contrasting effects on the body.
Healthy Kids Aromatherapy: This workshop will feature child-friendly essences that guests will be able to create. For example, combinations can be made to help children relax at bedtime along with other beneficial functions for children.
Couples Workshop: Reconnect with your loved on at one of two couples’ workshops; one will boost a couple’s existing connection while the other will aim to potentiate the couple’s love for each other. Both workshops will focus on what each couple would like to gain and learn from the workshop and couples will be guided through massage and infusion creations, aiding all aspects of the relationship and improving a couple’s already existing bond.
Custom Dosha Exfoliation: This workshop allows guests to create custom exfoliations depending on their Dosha, which is a central concept of Ayurvedic medicine wherein health exists when there is a balance between three energies: Vata (space and air), Pitta (fire and water) and Kapha (earth and water). Each exfoliation will be custom-made based on the guest’s needs and desires.
