Robie & Rubio

Gaby and Roberta, the masterminds behind Robie & Rubio, a neutral baby and kids clothing brand

In Monterrey, People, Play by Regina García

The recently launched brand, based in Monterrey, Mexico, was started by two entrepreneurial women who realized that baby clothes had outdated designs, stereotypical forms, and colors, and lacked durability. With this area of opportunity in mind, they created Robie & Rubio, offering a fresh new look for babies and toddlers that allows them to be comfortable yet stylish (according to and appropriate for their age), with endless mix and matching options. The clothing is wearable all year long and made with the quality necessary for each piece to last many years, even able to be passed on to other new babies that join the family. All these characteristics add up to the fact that it’s a reasonably priced brand, making it possible for everyone who wants to buy a piece to afford it. Discover everything about Robie & Rubio, as well as a short interview with their founders Gabriela and Roberta.

How did Robie & Rubio start? We came together to create the company Robie & Rubio, named after us. Our goal was to establish a socially conscious brand in the fashion industry by operating an online store with fair pricing, positioning our brand as one known for its high-quality, unique, and neutral pieces that are also affordable.

What is the main objective of the brand? Our brand’s main objective is to provide versatile and timeless clothing for babies aged newborn to 4 years old, offering gender-neutral designs and inclusive sizing options that can easily be mixed and matched and be passed down within other members of your family.

What makes you different from other kids and baby brands? Our commitment to gender-neutral designs extends beyond challenging traditional norms; it also aligns with our dedication to promoting a more conscious fashion world while contributing to sustainability through designs that are versatile and timeless, allowing for effortless mixing and matching within our collection and encouraging longer wear. This not only supports the concept of recycling clothes within families but also ensures that our garments can be enjoyed year-round, providing extended longevity and value.

What is your brand philosophy? The philosophy behind the Robie & Rubio brand is to design pieces that are soft, comfortable, and available in a range of sizes, all while maintaining affordability. In a market where it can be challenging to find baby clothes that meet all these criteria, our brand strives to embody a sense of harmony and beauty.

How are you making Robie & Rubio earth-friendly? By designing durable and high-quality pieces, we encourage longevity in our products, reducing the need for frequent replacements and ultimately reducing waste.
