Josa Tulum: The Perfect Merge Between Tulum and NYC

In Architecture & Design by Regina García

Combining both the amazing Caribbean beach of Tulum and the stylish city of New York, Josa creates pieces that can be worn in both ambiences, without compromising all the style and fashion details.

Created by Joanne Salt, a photographer from NYC that decided to raise her son Luca at a quiet and heavenly place like Tulum. Josa was founded in 2009, it started by the idea of creating original kaftans but with a modern and current style that contemporary woman would love to wear.

Although Joanne is American, the brand is a 100% Mexican since the two fabrics she uses

(chiffon and jersey) are sourced and printed in Mexico City and her atelier is located in Playa del Carmen. The materials are both printed and solid, and every desing has different color options and combinations.

The main purpose of the clothing brand is to offer versatile yet chic pieces that are comfortable and can be worn from day to night at every event. The most amazing aspect of the dresses is that they’re specially made to be wrinkle free, so if you are traveling you don’t have to worry about putting them in your suitcase. The dresses are also inclusive since there’s only one size that fits every type of body, also they’re customizable, since all the garments are made to order.

The current shop that opened its doors in 2019 is located in the Tulum town next to Burrito Amor (right now closed due to COVID lockdown). Also, Josa Tulum can be found in different hotels and boutiques around the Mexican Republic, and of course you can buy it online at www.josatulum.com.mx with international shipping.
