In Architecture & Design by Suzanne Koch

Name: Museo Amparo

Architects: Enrique Norten, TEN Arquitectos

Location: Puebla

Size: 12,000 square meters

Completed: 2012

Located in Puebla’s historical city center, Museo Amparo is made up of several colonial buildings of great historical and architectural value, which were taken into account during the modernization of it.

Key features during the modernization included the display and circulation of gallery spaces and collections to encourage intercommunication between each one while still allowing independent access. Temporary exhibition spaces were expanded as well to sustain social, educational and cultural services. A new roof terrace and landscape highlight city views of domes, towers, churches and Puebla’s natural landscape.
